Hello dear readers—a few links I’ve enjoyed reading, and a poem for the week: The brilliant Antonia Malchik writing about the theft of the commons. Kathleen Hanna, founder of Bikin Kill and Riot Grrrl fame, has a memoir out. I found this look back at images from 50 years ago
I was 9 in 1974, and I have memories of all but only a few of the events in The Atlantic article. I'm also struck by the differences between the news of then vs. now. Pretty sure I have those memories because of getting a daily newspaper, watching network news, and 60 Minutes. Such a different landscape now, and it has me wondering what typical 9 year olds today know about and perceive of what's going on in the world.
The inner life of plants!!! How did you know? I've been tinkering this week with a poem about bees and flowers. This was such delightful, helpful read! 🤗💕
Thank you, Freya! Always finding some inspiration in these ...

"Lying in bed as if nothing mattered,/ My screams shall light up the entire night." Wowza. Thank you for cultivating this!!
