I love the poems you quote.

I read the Great Gatsby last year and threw it against the wall when I was done. I, too, have a great disdain for it.

👏 👏 the history of how it became heralded as an american classic is maddening—that it was rather obscure and didn’t sell well, but male critics in the 1940s promoted it and then it was reissued in the thousands to send to GIs during world war ii in book drives—which banned books written by women, like Ursula Parrot’s Ex-Wife—which out sold Great Gatsby the year they both came out by a long shot. 😡 🤦🏻‍♀️ And don’t get me started on what Fitzgerald did to Zelda….

I didn’t know this background. You’ve piqued my interest to learn more. Also the fact that high schoolers in the year of our lord 2024 are still required to read it

Boop both snoots. Also excited to read about 400 years of women’s diaries!!! Good find!!

I wonder what a correspondence between the "clean-mouthed" Ms. Swan and Roseann Barr would reveal?

Who's that suspicious character trying to blame the blameless Gimli?

Thanks for the Kenyon poem on this snowy almost spring day.

Ahhh! I had Wicked Little Letters in my Caught In My Web series this week! I’ve watched the trailer so many times. I can’t wait to watch the full movie. Spectacular cursing. Also adding that anthology of women’s diaries to my TBR list! WOW 😍

Your dogs are hilarious and adorable. Definitely up to no good. Is the Frenchie the boss of the house?

The cursing was the best part! With wild abandon 🤣

like minds thinking alike! the bulldog is definitely spicy…but our chihuahua definitely takes top billing in the house. 😂

Of course it’s the chihuahua 😭😍

Oh I just watched the film and it is EXCELLENT! Its a true story and all three women were forgotten from history (they acknowledge that at the end) laughed, cried and raged

Yay—can’t wait to see it! 💜

I moved back to New England in 2022. I have relearned my love of Jane Kenyon, maybe it's middle age (goodness, I am now older than the age she was when she died!) or maybe it's rural New England. I prefer to think it is quietly intense love.

I feel similarly about Kenyon’s work—quietly simply moving. 💜

So many great links to dive into! I saw my first tree bud beginning to unfurl today.

Well it’s flower buds on a maple but leaves will follow in a few weeks.
