A beautiful piece, Freya.

I love watching the seasons shift, and autumn is particularly good for this.

In this way, I really enjoyed this line of yours —

“Maybe fall feels unignorable because the landscape moves out of the background—from where the Western world insists it resides. The landscape, in all its changes, calls to pay attention, to also change, to notice.

Thanks :)

Beautiful meditation Freya. Have you read Susan Cain’s Bittersweet? It is all about that duality. A good autumn read, perhaps?

I've actually listened to half of the audio book. ;) But yes--there is a lot there that speaks to that paradox. And I love reading recommendations, so thank you! 💜

"A time that begins to feel more rooted." I feel that. As soon as the weather shifts, I feel more present, more here, more alive, than I ever manage in summer.

It always surprises me at how much I love that feeling--and how much I've been missing that feeling of being rooted, a part of the surroundings in summer months.
