How wonderful it is to see so many tributes and ways Brigid and the sacred feminine, and their connections to the landscape around us, are being more widely recognized and honored. Thank you for sharing this array. Brigid's power is the earth's power and our power as women/creators. Bright blessings xo
Almost spring indeed here, with temperature approaching 60 degrees earlier this week. Monday at the farm school we saw pacific tree frogs during the pasture walk, way too early, and blossom starting to bloom.
This is beautiful, Freya! Thank you so much for this!!! I'm reading it a day late, on February 2nd, and supposedly the groundhog has predicted an early spring this year. I'm not too upset about that ;)
I love that so much. And can't agree more--Doireann Ní Ghríofa is a force, I was so happy to see her poem represented. Ghost in the Throat is one of my all time recent favorites--just brilliant! ☘️
Freya, I really do love this. In memory of the patron mother St Brigid and the Birch stirring under the snow to her awakening- much like a fetal awakening in the mother’s womb. These traditions of women representing art, nature, power, protection and authority over our own bodies makes me emotional and proud to be a woman.
“She watches over my desk for me now, offering feminist poetic solidarity.” I am not a religious person either but I too have a oil on canvas painting of goddess Durga behind my work station and I can clearly feel her protection on days I stray into despair or hopeless. We need our goddess, and we need our sisters. 💜🌼
O I love that we both have our protective feminist protectors. 🧚🏼 We do need our goddesses and sisters. Thankful to know they are in the world for us. 💜🕯
„beg you to teach us again, before it grows too late,
your neglected, painstaking arts of nature and of care.“
Thank you so much for reminding St Brigid and her neglected art. Also your winter pic referring to the sap of dormant trees brought St Hildegard to mind, who uses the sap in the tree as allegory for our soul.

Happy season, whichever you're enjoying!
I love those tree frogs—amazing. we’ve had such a cold spell, highs of -4f (oof!) so to think of blooms beginning seems like magic. 🌷

happy almost spring! ☘️
Thank you! Sending you warm wishes ❤️ 🍀
Still a long haul through to Spring here too @Freya Rohn but there’s a sense of something stirring among the birds as the light starts to return.
💜🪶
I love this version of “honoring elders”
More stories like this, pls!
💜 yes!
I love reading this, Freya, and didn’t realize how much I need her now…thank you.

This is a great series on Brigid I watched last year. https://www.rte.ie/player/movie/finding-brigid/362119208110
O! I cannot WAIT to watch this--I adore Siobhán McSweeney!! 💜☘️
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Thank you...
💜
Awesome
My grandmother, my mother, and my aunts always made the Brigid crosses every year.
My sisters and cousins still have them above their front doors.
And Doireann Ní Ghríofa is brilliant. Every XY should read A Ghost in the Throat.

Brigid was a total badass, facing the darkness and guiding us through to lighter days. Happy Imbolc!
